Almost Heroes is a cover band that performs a variety of music with a rock and roll twist, paying tribute to well-known acts we all know and love from legendary rock bands to modern day artists.
Established in 2010, Almost Heroes began as an acoustic duo among Andy (Couple of Creatives co-founder) and one of his bandmates from a prior original band. It eventually grew into the 5-piece band it is today. They have played countless shows throughout the years, experienced band name changes, member changes, traveling to play festivals, weddings and other private events, all while learning hundreds of songs along the way.
Each member brings over a decade of experience playing music in a band and enjoys being progressive in learning new material together. They take pride in creating an enthusiastic stage presence and only cover music they can truly get into, which tends to be the rock and roll genre. It can be challenging to put in all the work, but the band provides a creative outlet for each member they wouldn’t want to be without.
The Almost Heroes identity was born out of necessity. The band had just gone through a name change and needed a new branding campaign to represent what they’re all about. The new logo needed to capture the type of music they play, which is rock. We began by researching well-established rock bands for inspiration. The Almost Heroes brand personality can be described as edgy, raw, sharp, electric and loud.
After many rounds of iterations, we arrived at the final logo design. The mark performs best in black and white. If the logo is in white, it needs to be overlain a dark background. If the logo is black, it looks the best on a light background. It features some texture as well as ornate elements to help emphasize the rigid shapes of the characters throughout.
As with most bands, the need for apparel and other merchandise was a must. It provides both marketing and profit to any band working towards their goals. As part of the brand refresh, we did a series of designs for t-shirts and zipper hoodies.
As part of the rebrand, we introduced a series of posters for the band’s upcoming shows. There are a handful of custom designs and templates to use for gigs with less time to promote.
These designs incorporate various primary and secondary colors. The band prefers bold and vibrant color choices as the goal for the posters is to get noticed. Everyone was pleased with the results.
To enhance live performances and promote their newly refreshed brand, we designed a series of custom graphics. We created a kick drum graphic, stage banners, custom amp grille cloth graphics, giveaways (stickers, guitar picks, koozies), a merchandise tent and even a custom vehicle decal for the band’s trailer.
To enhance the production of their live show, we designed custom stage banners and speaker grille graphics that display the band’s logo. The goal is to provide any onlooker the ability to instantly identify with the group during their live performance.
The band uses Facebook for most of its promotion of show announcements or just a place to goof off with their fan base. Video has proven to provide the most impressions so the band tries to publish those as much as possible.
The previous Almost Heroes website was built using a popular blogging platform called Tumblr. This platform provided a way for the band to regularly update content. However, the band is much more active on Facebook and their focus was put there and less on blogging for their website. Since providing a steady stream of blog updates just wasn’t in the cards for the group, we advised it would be better for them to have no dynamic content than to have the capacity for it but no new content being published.
The new website is a simple solution that serves its purpose for the band. We improved their online presence meeting all their requirements. The website features a fully responsive design minus the unnecessary blog functionality the old one had. Instead, the media section currently feeds from the band’s Instagram account to provide a stream of fresh content. There is now a contact form for people to easily send messages to the band. No matter what device a user is operating while on the website, it has been optimized to provide an easy navigation experience.
